Maybe You've Been Looking for a Different Way.
You're tired of the food noise, the meal planning, and worrying about food and your weight.
You want to feel strong, not just smaller.
You want food that's simple, filling and not "diet food."
You want to stop starting over every single Monday.
You want someone in your corner, because you've tried doing this alone.
And you want to invite God into it, and honor the temple He gave you.
If that's you, you're in the right place.
Doing All the Things, and Still Stuck?
Maybe you've been told to lose weight to improve your insulin resistance or PCOS, and then realized that's exactly what feels impossible.
Maybe you're good Monday to Thursday. Then the cravings hit, and the more you try to resist, the worse it gets.
Maybe you've cut carbs, added more cardio, tried the plans and the pills, and you're still pushing around the same 2 pounds.
Maybe you've quietly wondered if your self-control is just weak. Or if caring this much about your body is vain.
So you give in, feel guilty, and promise yourself you'll start again Monday.
It's not a willpower problem. There is another way.
Stewardship, Not Vanity.
Struggling with cravings doesn't make you less faithful.
Your body isn't your identity, and it isn't your enemy.
Fitness doesn't need to become an idol.
But your body is a gift you've been entrusted with.
Caring for it is an act of stewardship, not vanity.
That's the foundation of Soul Strength Academy.

Hi, I'm Layla Del Rey. I'm Not Here to Teach You How to Shrink Yourself.

I gained the weight in the military. So I did what everyone told me: I ran almost every day and counted every calorie. It worked, for a while.
Then I learned that lighter isn't the same as strong. I started lifting, and my body changed. But I also saw how easily fitness can become about comparison and never feeling like enough.
In 2023, my back gave out and I needed spine surgery. I couldn't just push harder anymore. I had to learn to actually take care of my body.
That's when God changed the meaning of it all. I started asking:
What if taking care of our bodies didn't have to come from vanity? What if it could come from stewardship?
That's why I created Soul Strength Academy — and why I specialize in coaching Christian women with insulin resistance and PCOS, because the usual "eat less, move more" advice so often fails them.
Real Women, Real Results.
Sarah, 34 — PCOS + insulin resistance
Sarah was doing HIIT several times a week and was scared of carbs. We put carbs back into balanced meals and replaced some cardio with structured strength training. When the scale went up one week, we looked at the trend instead of quitting. Over her coaching she lost about 6 kg, her waist came down, she got stronger — and the Monday restarts faded.
Emily, 31 — PCOS + insulin resistance
Emily was doing cardio five times a week and starving by Friday. We moved her to four structured strength sessions with less cardio. She got stronger doing less. Then a weekend away with friends — restaurants, dessert — no longer derailed her whole week. She lost about 5 kg and stopped living by the scale.
Neither of them found a secret meal plan. They stopped treating their bodies like problems to punish.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this for women with insulin resistance or PCOS?
Yes, that's who I specialize in. Many women with PCOS also have insulin resistance, and the usual "eat less, move more" advice often backfires for them. Your training and nutrition are built around that. Coaching doesn't replace medical care, and it works alongside your doctor.
What is PMOS? Is it the same as PCOS?
PMOS is a newer name some experts have proposed for PCOS, to reflect that it affects metabolism and hormones, not just the ovaries. Whatever name your doctor uses, the coaching approach is the same: strength, steady meals and consistency.
Do I need a diagnosis to join?
No. Many women suspect insulin resistance or PCOS long before a doctor confirms it. I'd still encourage you to talk with your doctor about testing, but you don't need a diagnosis to start building better habits.
Will I have to cut out carbs?
No. Most of my clients have been scared of carbs for years. We include foods like oats, potatoes, rice and fruit, in amounts and at times that work for you, as part of balanced meals that keep you full.
Why strength training instead of more cardio?
Muscle is one of the main places your body uses blood sugar, so building it can support how your body handles insulin. Cardio and walking still have a place, as tools, not as punishment for what you ate.
Will this cure or reverse my PCOS or insulin resistance?
No coaching program can promise that, and I won't. What we do can support your insulin sensitivity, energy and body composition, and many women feel a real difference. Your medical care stays with your doctor.
I take metformin, inositol or other medication. Can I still join?
Yes. Coaching works alongside your treatment. I don't give advice on medication or supplements; any changes there are between you and your doctor.
Why does the scale sometimes go up even when I'm doing everything right?
With PCOS and insulin resistance especially, weight can move with your cycle, water, stress, sleep and training. That's why we look at trends, measurements, strength and how you feel, not one morning's number.
I already know how nutrition works. Why would coaching help?
Most women I work with already know the basics. What's missing is a plan that doesn't leave them fighting hunger all day, training that builds them up instead of wearing them out, and someone keeping them consistent when life gets busy. That's the gap coaching fills.
I'm considering (or taking) GLP-1 medication. Is this for me?
That's a decision for you and your doctor. Coaching can work alongside whatever you decide: strength training, meals that keep you full and weekly accountability help you build habits that last either way.
Do I need to be fit already?
No. Your program is built around your current level.
Do I need a gym?
Not necessarily. Your training can be adapted to your environment and available equipment.
Will I have to follow a strict diet?
No. We focus on sustainable nutrition rather than extreme restriction — carbs included.
Is this only for weight loss?
No. Goals can include fat loss, muscle development, strength, confidence and overall fitness.
What happens if I miss a workout?
You don't get punished. We look at what happened and adjust.
How much access do I have to you?
You'll have direct coaching communication and weekly check-ins throughout the program.
What if I'm struggling with food or body image?
We'll approach nutrition and habits without shame, but Soul Strength Academy is not a substitute for clinical treatment. If you need specialized medical or psychological support, I'll encourage you to work with the appropriate professional alongside our coaching.
